Am ending my day with sharing an excerpt from my upcoming book: The wind may prompt you to hug a tree or it will cool you on a hot muggy day. The wind, as my Grandfather explained, is the breath of the Creator. Sometimes it will play with your hair, as though it is playing ‘dance around the maypole’ and at other times, you cannot feel or see the result of a single stir. Yet it always IS – just as Spirit IS. Sometimes, it simply rests in the silence of stillness. That stillness is equivalent to the space between the notes in music; the space between the inhale and the exhale – that space that appears to be nothingness, yet is full of potential and the ALL. We cannot see the wind – only its effects as it moves. We cannot capture or control it, but we CAN and DO change the current with our own physical body movements. When all appears to be oh so still and quiet, we still have air to breathe. It is ever-present – omnipresent. We are submerged in it just as much as a fish is submerged in the ocean. So we are in Spirit – the Creator of all things. We are submerged within that Infinite energy constantly, moment by moment. When we consciously lose ourselves in something much bigger than ourselves, we learn and gain energy from it. Grandfather once shared with me about the metaphoric layers of the wind. On some levels, it can represent the various layers of mental intellect, the mind. On other levels, it can show us the perfection of Spirit in all its completeness. It requires nothing outside of itself to simply BE. This totality of completeness is what all of life strives for. It can make its presence known with force or with stillness – either way, nothing in its IS-ness changes. It is up to us to notice when it plays among the flowers or dances in the leaves. What many do not see when this occurs, are the seeds that are scattered as a result of the movement. These same seeds are carried in the wind to possibly another destination. Seeds that will, in their generation and when Divine timing is right, germinate and grow. There is no difference in the lessons of our lives – when the wind dances, lessons occur, providing opportunity for new growth in fertile soil. Sometimes the winds of change will come in the form of hurricanes, and at other times, in the form of a gentle breath. It can carry the scents all around us and can make the flute sing with joy – yet it can be as cleansing as the tornado that forged a new path. Wind can carve through stone, yet still be so gentle as to barely stir a leaf. No matter how extreme or silent – it simply IS – totally and completely. The high pitched sound of a flute is very similar to the sound of wind blowing through the treetops – giving life to the music and voice to the wind. Sometimes it will sound like a whispering chorus as it blows through the rustling grasses on a prairie. Listen closely to the music in nature as the wind sings through the treetops and in the valleys amidst the mountains. Allow the song of nature to find its way to your heart. Breathe it in and make that song part of who you are. Feel the rhythmic nature of the vibrations as it moves through your limbs and begins to resonate with your own heartbeat. Grandfather always reminds me to breath deeply to inhale life-giving air and its cleansing properties for my physical body, clarity of mind to my mental body, tranquility to my emotional body, and energetic resonance to my spiritual body. Breathe – and give thanks to the Breath of Life – the Breath of the Creator – the power within the wind and all its transcendence… Copyright: Karen Johnston June 2014
