Am even more furious with the NHS today and I havent even been to my appointment yet. Poor Ellie has been feeling unwell and I told her yesterday to phone the medical practice she is registered with first thing today. 8.15 she gets through and is told there is ONE appointment at 9 a.m. She is in Teddington and practice in Twickenham. She rushes out with little money, has to stop at a cash point to get money, phones me almost in tears with pain and out of breath from running (bearing in mind shes complaining she cant breath and coughing), bus doesnt come, she calls a cab, phones to let practice know she is in a cab but stuck in traffic and told that if she is later than 15 mins late she misses appointment. She arrives 20 mins late and phones practice to say she is in the cab outside only to be told shes missed her appointment. Cab cost her £8 and she told them shes prepared to sit and wait all day to be seen. At that point they ask if she is a student in which case she shouldnt have been on that appointment list and they can fit her in at 11.50. She is now pacing the streets for 2 and a half hours until her next appointment. And they wonder why people go to A & E for minor ailments. Trying to get past a receptionist at the Doctors is harder than breaking into the Bank of England!
