Am sure youve had those moments when a stranger says something so off-the-wall, you cannot think of a reply. For those who know me, you know, my not having a quick-smart-mouth response is so rare, well, its just darned rare. This morning I was standing at a card rack in a local store. The aisle is narrow, but people can walk past. A man pushed a cart down the aisle, and I stepped closer to the card display. His wife (or girlfriend) was right behind him. She stopped, glared at me, and snapped, Whats with all these transplants from New York! Then she quickly left. I stood there, thinking, Ive been accused of many things, but never before have I been mistaken for a transplant from New York. Was born and grew up in New Mexico, and wear old torn jeans most of the time. Am still wondering, what did she have against New York?
