Amanuel Mehari ESMNS (SIMRET) IN DENVER (Personal view on the leadership) Chairman Tesfu Atsbaha and his deputy Mustafa Mohammednur had extensive discussion with Eritrean justice seekers in and around Denver. They had a two-day event and were able to broadly update attendants with the current situation of their organization and the nation. Some of us had the honor to sit down and chat with both of them the night before the Seminar day, Saturday the 10th of January 2015. We gathered at Wedi Atsbhas old house, a house he left behind right after his heroic decision to abandon the western life to fight for justice. His old house is still full of his old books, it is a mini library with old and recent tigrigna, amharic and English collections: Of Kings And Bandits, The generation, The autobiography of Malcolm-x, Stolen justice, Todays best nonfiction, Million man March, Ethiopia from conflict to cooperation, Dreams from my father, Oromay, Gash, Bandits... just to mention some of the collections in one corner of the room. Every time you look into any of his books Wedi Atsbha goes ..thats a good one! followed by a smile that says you can look but you cant touch, It is hard to borrow any of his books . His reading habit is still second to none. If Asmara University was alive she would be very proud of one of her favorite sons. He came back to Denver after more than 2yrs, much more seasoned and matured. His humbleness and sense of humor are still intact and is still a great listener. His fascination with the legend Abdelkadir kebire and the Eritrean history and politics In general, especially that of the late 40s and early 50s, is astonishing. During the seminar his presentation was full of quotations from the words of our late mavericks: Weldeab Weldemariam and Shiek Ibrahim Sultan. And the way he acknowledged some of our former ELF and EPLF fighters in the crowd shows you his firm respect of the struggle for independence. Mustafa Mohammednur, was another amazing character; what a calm and articulate human being!! His passion and confidence when talking about his organization and his country was breathtaking. His scientific approach to every question that came his way gives you a worm and assuring feeling about the future leaders of our beloved nation. These two leaders conducted a very inspiring and compelling seminar, and right after their call for people to join the movement many vowed to join. In addition, just in a matter of minutes, thousands of dollars was pledged for the cause. It would be disingenuous to insinuate that this or any other opposition group is with out flaws, no one is perfect. As much as the overall outlook of the participants was positive, the call for unity and collaboration with fellow justice seekers was loud and clear. Nontheless, after what we witnessed in Denver, were confident of their ability and maturity to resolve what ever challenges they might have within and beyond their organization wisely. Their determination to fight and their unwavering focus on Pfdj was another very impressive quality. Following the seminar we had a music night by our local entertainers and in the middle of it Wedi Atsbha and Mustafa had to leave us. As we headed home to our loved ones, to our wives and children, they had to catch a flight at 4 am the next morning, to conduct another seminar in Dallas, Texas. These two men have earned the at most respect of Deleyti fithi in Denver, period! ! THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND SERVICE!!
