Amazayn Saameen Zayn Malik Something romantic ________ Saameen watched the trees pass by in a blur, the soft lull of the radio providing a comfortable background noise. But the suspense was too much. “Zayn, where are we going?” she asked, looking over to her boyfriend. Zayn took his eyes off the road and Saameen thanked the gods out there that the roads were empty. Zayn gave her a grin, the kind that spoke of the secret held within. “It’s a surprise,” he said, before turning back to the road. Saameen simply huffed and gave up, going back to watching the tress pass by. She didn’t know what was happening. Zayn had been acting all secretive the whole day and she was this close to begging him to tell her. But she held her ground. She didn’t give up. She could take the suspense. Only a bit more, right? The rest of the ride passed by in silence, with Zayn occasionally looking over at her and giving her smiles and grins. Saameen was so lost in her own thoughts that she didn’t notice when the car had stopped until Zayn was opening the door from the outside for her. “We’re here,” he said simply, offering her a helping hand. She took his hand and slid out of her car seat, looking at their surroundings as she stood beside him. They were in what seemed to be an isolated area, with no houses out for miles. The whole place was surrounded with trees, and Saameen eyed a clearing passage on one side of the seeming forest. “Where are we?” she asked. “Um, actually, we have to walk to where we are going. I hope you don’t mind,” Zayn replied. Saameen simply shook her head. With another smile at her direction, Zayn intertwined their fingers together and tugged on her hand, leading her to the passage she had seen among the trees. She obliged, coming in-step with her boyfriend. They walked along the trail, hands swinging lightly between them. The trees around were tall and green, and she knew that come autumn, the whole trail would be full of fallen leaves, crunchy and brown with season. As they neared the end of the trail, Saameen heard the distinct sound of water flowing and she furrowed her brows in confusion. ‘Water?’ she questioned in her mind. ‘But he hates water.’ Then they stepped into a clearing, and she felt her eyes widen in shock and surprise. In front of them stood a house. Not just any house, but the most beautiful house she’d ever laid her eyes upon. It was only one storey tall, but it was wide in length, stretching out on the clearing beautifully. The left most part of the house was forthcoming, sticking further out from the rest of the house and had green vines crawling beautiful all over it. What was more, a couple feet beside the house ran a small stream. Big enough to dip into but small enough to be safe. In the setting sun, the scene in front of her looked better than any fairy tale could conjure up. “Do you like it?” Zayn asked from behind her, and if she had been paying a bit more attention, maybe she would’ve heard the slight nervousness underlined in his voice. She turned her head to glance at him. “It’s beautiful, Zayn,” she breathed. Zayn nodded, satisfied, and came to stand beside her. “I’d like for us to live here,” he murmured, loud enough for her to hear. Saameen turned her gaze sharply at him. “Together. With kids. They’d grow up here and stuff, you know? They could go to a school that’s just a few miles away, or, if you’d like, we could home school them, or something.” Zayn shook his head and turned to face her. “What I’m trying to say is,” he took a deep, calming breath and got down on his knees. He produced a velvet box from his jacket and opened it, revealing the beautiful diamond ring within it. “Saameen Shrestha, we’ve been together for five years now, and I don’t know why I didn’t ask you before but, will you marry me?” Saameen stood dumbstruck, staring at her boyfriend’s face. She knew this was coming. She’d known since he’d uttered the word ‘kids’. Still, it didn’t make it any less shocking, or overwhelming. “Uh,” Zayn cleared his throat nervously after a few more minutes of nothing but silence. “I don’t want to push you or anything, but a reply would be nice,” he said sheepishly. Saameen shook herself out of her daze. Then flung her arms around him, catching his lips in hers. They broke apart after a while, air proving to be a too much necessity. She rested her forehead against his as they caught their breath. “So,” he said after a while, still sounding a bit breathless. “Does that mean yes?” “Idiot,” she chastened him softly, pressing a soft kiss against his lips. “Of course it means yes.”
