Amazon stepped up their strong-arm tactics against Hachette as this week drew to a close. Jim Giammatteo and I have both been posting on this and Amazons similar tactics against a publisher in Germany, but the latest events warrant further exposure. Not content with delaying deliveries of Hachette print books Amazon are now manipulating the search results to reduce visibility of Hachette titles and have removed the ability to pre-order new titles - including JK Rowlings pending release. In some instances they have removed the product page entirely. As Amazon is always telling us, it is is the most customer-centric company on the planet, always putting customers first. Fans of JK Rowling (writing as Gabraith), James Patterson, etc,are finding out the hard way just like indie authors with audio books - that the reality is somewhat different.
