Ambode Promises Youth Empowerment through Entertainment, Sports: In Entertainment / 23 January 2015 / 0 comments The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, has reiterated that if voted as the successor of the outgoing Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, his administration would embark on massive youth empowerment programme through sports and entertainment. Ambode, who made the promise on Thursday during his ongoing governorship campaigns held at Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state, also assured the people that he would put the experiences he garnered while working in the state civil service into practice to ensure that the people of the state are empowered. “In Ajegunle, there are many talented young men and ladies who have made successful careers in sports and entertainment. In order to continue to produce such talents as a way of providing job for our people, we will bring sports and entertainment centres here. He added that the ongoing government projects in the area would be completed by his administration, stressing that: “The next four years will be different in terms of rapid development that the state would experience. “I want to continue all the good works that former governors Bola Tinubu and Fashola started. We will continue work on the Mile 2 road and other things the previous administrations started.” While addressing the audience, Fashola alleged that the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was deliberately working to divide Nigerians along ethnic lines, pleading with Nigerians to remain resolved to stay together as one indivisible country. “When we are picking from the talents in this local government area, nobody remembers to ask where anybody comes from. Nobody talks about religion when Emmanuel Amunike or Samson Siasia scores goals for Nigeria. “So, why then should a president divide us? The Oluwas and the Ojoras who are the owners of this place do not discriminate against the people living here and as a governor, I have not tried to divide the people of the state. “The candidate of the PDP said if President Goodluck Jonathan loses the election, the Niger Delta will leave Nigeria. Why should someone be trying to divide us? My wife will not go and her mother will not go either because they are from the South-south,” he maintained. While he expressed optimism that the coming election will not bring about division in Nigeria, Fashola said: “Instead, it is the PDP leadership that will be voted out of office by Nigerians. It is them who will leave because Nigerians will chase them out of Aso Rock with brooms and their votes.” He said even where some Nigerians, including the Sultan of Sokoto and himself are yet to obtain their Permanent Voters’ Card (PVC), Nigerians will get their PVCs and that the next month elections will hold. “They are already flying the kite that may be the elections should be postponed but there will be nothing like that because the election is already lost and won. Nigerians are showing that they are ready for the change,” Fashola said. Original link Read More goo.gl/MxdDGN (y) ✍comment ☏share
