American Red Cross Volunteer Opportunity: Home Fire Preparedness Campaign-Smoke Alarm Installation Event Date – Monday, January 19th/MLK Day of Service Start & End times – Meet at Red Cross Office in Vicksburg (916 Belmont Street, Suite 3) at 8am (to train for one hour) and visit homes until 1pm – Pizza lunch will be provided afterward back at the ARC office ARC point of contact for this event – Questions: Kim Abrams, 601-353-5442 Sign-Up to participate: Morgan Bell, 601-814-0553 Total number of volunteers needed – 30, so far we have about 10 individuals that have signed up. Description – In teams of three, volunteers will disperse into targeted neighborhoods to provide program services for homeowners. On average volunteers will spend about 20 minutes completing each home visit. We hope to service at least 25-50 homes this day. Installation teams have three goals: • Testing and (as needed) installing smoke alarms • Educating the resident on fire safety and safety from other types of locally relevant disasters • Documenting resident information, including the services provided Last Day for Sign-Up – 1/9/15, ANY interested community members can participate!
