American Strays Canine Survey 2014 - Detroit: WA2S.org/american-strays This distressed dog was spotted by one of the American Strays Canine Survey teams in Detroit on Sunday September 21, 2014 during the survey for stray dogs. The World Animal Awareness Society is reaching out to the general dog rescue community in each of the target cities where the American Strays 2030 Project components are being deployed. It is the desire of the WA2S to work with local animal rescue and welfare professionals to help provide specific, needed services to dogs we come across while surveying in their city that are in peril. The WA2S cannot just observe what we see on the streets without being effected. It is the belief of the American Strays team that animals found in peril on the streets should get immediate attention by the authorized animal welfare community in each respective city. However, when this is not possible, the WA2S will contact other vetted welfare professionals to see that the animals in question receive the care that is needed. This particular dog has no business on the street, and is a hazard to itself and the community as a whole. WA2S Films will call your (vetted) rescue in on the spot and film the process of rescue for your non profit. Hey Detroit and SE Michigan, this means you! I need a few rescues to step up and do what you do best. contact: [email protected] Endorsement: The American Strays Canine Survey conducted by the World Animal Awareness Society has provided valuable and reality based information that will assist the Michigan Humane Society (MHS) and other key stakeholders within the city of Detroit. The challenges regarding homeless and stray animals within Detroit are significant and it is imperative that we collectively and efficiently maximize our finite resources to better the lives of animals within the city. This project has been a key step forward in advancing our understanding relative to the scope and magnitude of the animal issues in Detroit and it will enable MHS to further improve our life-saving programs.
