American soldiers are not asked to die for their country; they are asked to live for it. They die for their brothers, not the nation. The Memorials are not our governments property, but the citizens, and particularly the citizen-soldiers who fought, gave, and died. In reality, each memorial is only entrusted to government for its upkeep. To treat them and veterans as a political football is heartbreaking.
