Among other jewelry projects that I worked on this weekend, I made - TopicsExpress

Among other jewelry projects that I worked on this weekend, I made 45 new Amphoriskoi. I really love making these, each one is individually made by hand. I didnt mark or fill these ones. I figured Id make a few hundred empty, to be filled by whomever gets them. If youre wondering what Amphoriskoi are, the name means little Amphorae. They are less than 12 inches, with or without handles. They are traditionally Greek, though Romans used them also. The larger ones were used to store or transport liquid or dry goods. (usually wine) The ones that I make are for personal use, anywhere from 1 - 5 inches, can be bigger. I make them small to carry on you as a pendant or in your pocket... Almost anything can go in them, a message or poem scroll, a favorite stone, baby tooth, ashes, a flower petal from a bouquet...pretty big list there! They can be sealed with wax or resin, then while the seal is hot, you can use your own small imprint, stamp, or carve a sign into the top. A gave quite a few as gifts to my friends, they use them as Amulets and Talismans. I love them because they are so different, and are a way of keeping my Greek blood alive and well! The last three pics are of one of my favorite, personal ones, I make chain harnesses for mine, and the seal is imprinted with the top of one of my favorite rings.
