Among the over 600 films I have on my personal favorites - TopicsExpress

Among the over 600 films I have on my personal favorites list—films that I have seen over the years that I have at least liked if not loved, there are very few, really, that I can say have brought tears to my eyes. The Railway Man—the personal memoir of Scotsman Eric Lomax is one of them—the story about his imprisonment in a Japanese slave labor camp in Thailand that he barely survived after British forces surrendered to the Japanese early in WWII. I read his book by the same title many years ago, but remembered very little of the story—until now. imdb/title/tt2058107/ A difficult film to watch at times for its depictions of great suffering and cruelty, it is a story well-worth knowing about nonetheless.... Excellent performances by Colin Firth, Nicole Kidman and Stellan Skarsgard....
