An Appeal for Mimi! Whilst watching one of those many nature shows set in the wildernesses of Russia, Canada, or similar, have you ever wondered what it would feel like to caress the thick, comfy fur of a bear – but didn’t want to risk life and limb in doing so? If so, then the unmistakably bear-like Mimi – and her magnificently snug coat - could be just the dog for you! This Akita is a truly eye-catching sight, in fact the English language really doesn’t possess the words required to accurately portray Mimi’s staggering beauty – Shakespeare himself would have been thoroughly tongue-tied! She is, however, a rather aloof character who is not one for constant fuss and attention, preferring to spend some time pursuing her own interests. Her nature does change somewhat when there are treats involved, and you can watch as her beautiful eyes light up as soon as these little incentives are offered. In spite of her occasional aloofness, she will sit wonderfully and thoroughly enjoys getting her back-end scratched. The main issue with Mimi is her intolerance of other dogs, and this would mean that she should only go to a household where she will not encounter other pooches – though considering her size there would scarcely be room for another dog anyways! Similarly, due to her sheer size, she would be best placed with families that have only older children, but would otherwise be fine in most any home environment, especially those with knowledge of the Akita breed. Her new owner must also be willing to give her the opportunity to stretch her legs regularly and keep her glorious coat in sparkling condition. Mimi would make a wonderful pet for anyone who is willing to work upon her foibles, and they would be rewarded with a truly remarkable dog.
