An Auckland woman had to be flown to hospital after a clifftop wasp attack while she was out walking with friends. The Auckland Rescue Helicopter took the woman to North Shore hospital just after midday yesterday after she fell over a wasp nest near Bethells Beach. The woman tripped over the nest and fractured her ankle, and was then stung by a whole lot of wasps, crew chief Herby Barnes said. He couldnt quantify the number of stings but said there were enough to give the woman an anaphylactic reaction. Id say there has been a lot of wasps stings lately, we have had a few call outs with persons with anaphylactic reactions, he said. The woman was in a stable condition.
