An FYI for all the dog handler volunteers: Puppy season is upon us - TopicsExpress

An FYI for all the dog handler volunteers: Puppy season is upon us and there a few reminders that we need to share. Puppies that are not at least 4 months old SHOULD NOT GO OUTSIDE. Their immune systems are not developed and there is too much risk of them picking up disease; parvo is especially dangerous. You can take them from their cages to socialize them in the quiet room. Please clean up any messes on the floor. There is usually a spray bottle of disinfectant in the room or use the mop and bucket. Also, please be very careful that you securely close cage doors and latch them when returning puppies. A puppy can easily fall out of an upper cage and be critically injured. If a puppy is trying to get out through the bowl hole, use a bowl and bungee cord to close the hole. There are also some lucite squares available. If you cant find these items, please ask Roger if he is there; if not, please ask Jordan or whoever is at the desk. Also, if their blankets are soiled, please replace them. If bathing any puppies, please dry them thoroughly before returning them to their cages; there is a blow dryer in the grooming room. Make sure they have dry blankets to lay on. Thanks! ~ angela
