An ICC Associate Membership application from Afghanistan has been accepted by the International Cricket Council (ICC). This was revealed by Mohammad Nabi, the captain of the national team. We have been playing ODIs’ and keen to play the Test matches. Hopefully, we will apply for the Test status post World Cup in 2015″. “Be having the associate membership, we will get more fund from the ICC. It is a step forward. The additional fund will be utilised to improve the domestic cricket in our country”. “We hope to perform better and will draw more recognition”, he added. Romania has been granted the affiliate membership on Thursday, it is also learnt. The announcement is likely to be made after the conclusion of ICC week in London. Sadly, there is no good news yet for the captain about his 60-year-old father, who was kidnapped by gunmen in Kabul last month. “We are yet waiting for his return.
