An Observation: I strongly feel that during my schooling.....I was taught about (1) How to follow some procedure to say, solve a problem....But, this was not enough to develop an aptitude in me to apply my education( or knowledge, whatever suits u) to practical problems. (2) Not only this, meanwhile I developed an increasing reluctance towards some subjects like Science, Politics....almost all subjects.....Only thing I liked was lunch break and Games period. (3) Most of the times, the questions WHYand HOW remained unanswered. Luckily, I got the interest back in Science when I found that I like doing Engineering or Mathematics if I could just FIGURE OUT HOW HAD SOMETHING EVOLVED. This is just a way to give some picture or visualization to a problem. For example, I didnt know what info a simple 2D graph convey (I was in 11th std.) I started making stories to explain (first to myself) some mathematics behind certain phenomenon - this led me to figure out that I need something which we ultimately called graph. Similar was the case with Light, Fourier Transform, Statistics,.....blah! blah! Finally, Ive started to look at everything in this way. And, this made all fields of knowledge equally attractive to me. What I want to convey here is - There is a need to add something to the prevailing system of education that makes student to not develop reluctance towards any subject and also, a student chooses his/her carrier not on the fact that he/she can follow some procedure blindly but, actually, he/she can actually foresee what they would be doing in the future and can move ahead with a faith. P.S. - Im no one to criticize our education system. There is a need to eliminate a trend where students defy their teachers and believe falsly - Yaar isko toh kuch bhi nahin ata.
