An Open Letter to the Honerables Mayor Peter Bober, Traci L. Callari, Hollywood District 3 Commissioner, Patricia Asseff, Kevin Biederman, Peter Hernandez, Richard Blattner, Linda Sherwood: Where are the other 10 police officers? The Sun-Sentinel reported that the Hollywood Police Force is 214 officers. In 2012 it was 224. The 10 police positions were frozen during the recession. But there is money in the bank now. The Sun-Sentinel reports that the City of Hollywood not only has balanced books, but is enjoying a surplus. Instead of using the money to unfreeze the 10 jobs, the cops were eliminated. The City of Hollywood literally balanced its books on the backs of the police force. Commissioners are quoted in the paper saying the banner is bad for business. Whats worse? No cops. The City brings in an ace like Chief Fernandez, and then tells him to do more work with less of a force. Finding efficiencies, no doubt. He had no choice but to bring in a consultant. The Chief knew the answer already: Give back his cops. The banner, the increase in crime, the bad press is on the hands of the Commission. You, and only you can change this. Dont boast of the surplus cash. Give it back to the Police where it belongs. Thank you.
