An Opinion : Jerry and I have noticed an uneasy trend of late concerning walk trails. What is meant to be an area of enjoyment for so many (and paid with by all of our tax $$$s) is increasingly becoming trails of terror with the predominated theme being violent crimes against women.This morning I went onto the WSB-TV website and typed into their search bar silver comet trail and atlanta beltline. These are spectacular areas and beautifully laid out. BUT............ One of the occurring themes is Crime - violent crime. Practically every county in the metro donut area is affected. IF our tax $$$s are going to be spent on walk trails our county MUST - MUST be able to Protect the citizens. The Atlanta Beltline and Silver Coment Trails have beefed up security........BUT Only AFTER the brutal crimes have been committed. Remember If you build it they will come. They are not just our law abiding citizens, children, pets, bicyclist, joggers and other Nature Lovers, unfortunately THEY are also the criminal element that will take what youve purchased or maybe even your life. So - the point is Please Do Not build trails that you cannot Patrol, keep clean of litter, put up cameras, emergency telephones, street lights and be able to Protect us from harm. Its a Beautiful world we live in and unfortunately its a Dangerous world we live in. Know you surroundings, go with a buddy and protect yourself. Thank You.
