An Unexpected Appointment Do you remember Sebastian? He was the homeless man that I spent my lunch hour with on Thursday. Well, on Friday, I had lunch with an old friend who really needed some attention. I felt I was right where I was supposed to be, but somebody else thought otherwise. Today during lunch, as I walked to my spot, I was singing to God, asking Him what was next. Shortly after I sat down, a friend that I had made at the park came looking for me. He had news about a possible job opportunity and wanted to let me know. Somehow - theres always a somehow - I ended up showing him my worship flags. He was assured that that road would take me somewhere. (I like that.) We said goodbyes and carried on. After sitting there for a little bit, God told me to move, to head back to work. So, I did. On my way, I recognized a shopping cart. It was Sebastians. I scanned the landscape and found him sitting under a tree. As I walked toward him, I called out, Sebastian, is that you? He called back, Laura! Where were you on Friday. I waited all afternoon. What??? I had no idea I was supposed to meet him. Evidently, he listened to me mention that I spend my lunch in the park around noon and was waiting for me, wanting to chat with me, so I sat down, and we picked up from where we left off. He told me how the numbness of his hand had stayed away, except for a little tingling in his fingers, so I prayed some more. He went on to say his back has been fine...arthritis better, and added on insomnia and some other things, so I prayed over him. We just chatted back and forth, and I told him I would be back tomorrow and asked if he needed anything. He said, Food would be nice. Canned. So, I went to the store tonight, bought some canned food (and a can opener), and will take it to him tomorrow. I even bought me a can, so that I can eat lunch with him. I havent eaten out of a can in a long time, since I was a little girl camping with my dad. What an honor to be looked for! Im glad hes doing better. I see what God sees in this man. God doesnt see dirt, doesnt smell urine...He sees His image and wants a relationship with His son. It turned out to be an amazing lunch! I wonder what tomorrow will bring. (If I remember to, Ill take a picture of Sebastian, so you can place a face with the name.) Awe...name...He calls him by name. God is definitely calling Sebastian. I pray he listens.
