An anomalous upper trough will remain in place across the Great - TopicsExpress

An anomalous upper trough will remain in place across the Great Lakes for days on end. Initially it will be in a position to keep our region unseasonably cool with variable clouds. Highs in the 70s most areas...with near 80 across the Piedmont and 60s in the mountains. These temperatures are a good 10 to in some cases 15 degrees below normal. Only isolated light showers are expected through Thursday. With time, the upper trough will slowly drift to the west while weakening. This will allow our region to gradually come under the influence of a more moist and warmer southwest flow aloft. Meanwhile...an upper disturbance will track from TX toward the southeast states and eventually our region. This should bring showers and thunderstorms back into our region by Friday and into the weekend. Hopefully, some of the parched areas of the New River Valley and southwest Virginia will receive some much needed rain by then, but until then, little to no rainfall is expected.
