An article written by me on Female Foeticide, plz do read and share your views on it. Female foeticide, the most disgusting word from the English dictionary and more than that the most disgusting thought of human mind. Id like start my thoughts with a quote from a famous speaker Les Brown, he says The graveyard is the richest place on earth because it is here that you will find all the hopes and dreams that were never fulfilled, the books that were never written, the songs that were never sung all because someone was too afraid to take that first step. But I dont agree with him, I think the richest place on the earth is a Mothers womb because it the place where could a another Benazir Bhutto who could lead some country, another Oprah Winfrey who could host some other talk shows, another Mother Teresa who could heal the world with her love and another Sonia Gandhi who could control a prime minister Last night I was lying on my bed and was thinking about this crime suddenly my 3 years old cousin came in. He came and set besides me, I asked him :- Sento what if you did not have your sister? (We call him Sento coz he is very sentimental, always watch that Sas Bahu serials and cry with them) At first he didnt hear, so I asked him again the same question. He stood up and punched me very hard and went to my mom crying. My mom asked him what happened and he hugged her and started crying and said, He is saying what if you didnt have your sister? I dont know anything I love my sister and if he would saying anything like that Id complain to his Dad. How this thing started? Well many years ago, around 1970 some scientists invented a ultrasound machine which can see inside a mothers womb and tell few things about the unborn baby, this machine was invented for a holy cause so that Doctor can cure the baby and he/she can come to the world safely. But you know what we Indians believe in Jughar (a temporary solution or a temporary use of something), we always use one thing for multiple purposes. We believe if necessity is the mother of invention then Jughar is the father of Invention. Here Ill not talk about other countries, Ill talk about India only because India is amongst the top countries where female foeticide take place. The other day I spoke to few people in my workplace about this crime and I was shocked to hear their response. Some said, it take money to bring up a girl child, some said it take money for their marriage and blah blah... I stoped there and asked them, did your parent raised you without spending any single penny? Are you going to get married without spending anything? Friends its not about the money that wed be spending on a girl child, its all about your mentality. We need to change our mentality and everything will be changed. And we still have time to stop this crime otherwise those days are not very far when our grandson will date other boys and our granddaughters( If still alive) will be dating 10-15 boys at once and that to forcefully because she wont have any other options. Lets come forward and take some action to stop this crime. Amit
