(Nasdaq: EBAY) today announced that it would acquire the US Postal Service for an undisclosed amount of cash. “Its a natural fit,” said eBay CEO John Donahoe, “eBay sellers have always preferred shipping with the USPS and the Postal Service has partnered with us on eBay Days and other promotions.” “We are very excited to be joining the eBay family,” said Postmaster General Jack Potter. An eBay spokesman said they had no immediate plans to layoff any of the nations 700,000 postal employees or to close any of the nations 39,000 post offices. We see these as our greatest assets.
