An excerpt from a retreat where our Master Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi speaks on how the sacred knowledge reached us today:- I told you long time ago the story of me and my father during war 1967. If you remember the story when my father rahimahullah was holding my hand in souk al hamadiyah we went out of our home beside the Umayyad Masjid. He was heading to Al Dirwashiyya Mosque for his class half an hour before maghrib, because the dars was after maghrib and I still remember that souk al hamadiyyah was closed and there was some, I believe some jets some aircrafts penetrating the sound barrier or bombing I wouldnt know at that time, but there was huge noise of what looked like explosions and glass from second floors above the shops was falling breaking on the pavement. We were walking in the middle of souk al hamadiyyah. My Father was steadfast holding my hand telling me not to scare, telling me few statements and I saw some some people running in souk al hamadiyyah. He walked to the masjid to deliver his dars. A lot of people are unaware of how much the ulama sacrificed in the past for this sacred knowledge to reach you or how much they sacrificed in everytime that this knowledge reaches new generations. This is why I stress again and emphasize again the only valid way in our modern time as it was in all times is the way of the ulama which combines knowledge, tasawwuf, sharia, tariqa, haqiqah, fiqh and tarbia and tazkiyyah. This is the only valid way. Trace back all our great scholars from our time back to Imam Ghazali, after him Imam Nawawi before him Imam Junaid, Hassan al Basri, Ibrahim ibn Adam, Abu Hanifah, Dawud at Tahi afterwards Ibn Hajar Asqalani, Imam Suyuti. Taken every part of the Islamic world knowledge was combination of fiqh and tassawuf together. In earlier times tariqas were not established exactly as madhabs were not established. Later on tariqas were established as madhabs were established. Earlier sufis were mujtahids. Most of the later sufis after Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilani or Imam Abu Hassah ash-Shadhili or after Sayyid Ahmed al-Rifai followed the ways of these great ulama, great awliya as people followed the way of Imam Abu Hanifah, and Imam Malik and Imam ash-Shafi. This is the way of Ahlus sunnah wal Jama. #PropheticMiracles2014
