An exciting 3 to 4 months ahead for KMI Airport, as we commence construction on the expansion of Domestic Departures while teams are already on site repainting the building and fixing (re-thatching, combing, etc.) our beautiful thatch roof. Thats not all! We are also going to build a Frontier Bar with a viewing deck and construction of our brand new thatch parking structures at the public parking area is nearing completion. We are also about to commence construction of a further 68 parking bays. Should you visit us during this time, please accept our most sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused by all of this. We can assure you that it is all in the interest of improving all we have to offer. Just a couple of facts: for phase 1 of the thatch project, the contractor should be using 270 tons of grass and 253 kms of tar-treated sisal twine! Also, the terminal building repainting is estimated to utilize more than 5,000 liters of sealer and paint.
