An important message from the program staff: Dear Cub Scout Parents – Following a review of our current Day Camp and Twilight Camp registration process a discussion was held and a decision was made to remove previously imposed barriers to those who wish to attend is a key strategy we can implement in an effort to get more kids to attend camps. To that end, the volunteer leadership and Council Staff Advisor for Cub Camping have elected to eliminate the 14-day prior to camp registration deadline for Day Camp and Twilight Camp. It is acknowledged that this is a change from the Council’s previous position and apologize for any inconvenience this may create. The camp leadership team believes strongly that we have volunteers that would rather roll up their sleeves a little further than see a kid miss out on a camping experience that might keep him in Scouting longer. The victory in Day Camp and Twilight Camp is not that we hold our ground on a policy, but that we serve the maximum amount of kids and change as many lives as we can. Registration has been reopened and will be taken online up until the Saturday prior to the start of camp. As of 7:30pm Thursday 6/6, all camps have had their registration deadlines extended. Our Council support staff is aware of this change and is already planning on providing additional supplies to account for increases in attendance as we get closer to camp. Additionally, given our collective desire to serve every kid, we will accept walk-ins whenever possible. There may not be a shirt, backpack, and patch waiting for them when they arrive, but we can get them these items quickly for the boys. We are letting you know that we have opened up our camps wider than ever and encourage you to join us at camp if you have not yet registered. A youth that attends camp is a life changed this summer!
