An interesting article in todays news makes mention about a British Airways Boeing 777 that broke a ground-speed record while flying between the USA and the UK reaching 750 MPH (miles per hour) and just a fraction under the speed of sound which is 767 MPH. Those lucky passengers crossed the Atlantic in just over 5 hours! Years ago, a lucky few passengers paid a lot more money to fly at those kind of speeds in Concorde. How did it fly so fast you may ask? It was a freak of nature. The aircraft was being pushed along by the upper atmospheric jetstream with a 200 MPH tailwind.
