An interesting study from 2007 done on the ecological consequences of culling badgers. Essentially, the increase in foxes which will occur will upset the balance of predation in those areas, placing increasing pressure on already threatened species such as hares and ground nesting birds. Badgers are vital to the balance of the UK ecosystem, removing them will cause lasting devastation to many other already threatened species. randd.defra.gov.uk/Default.aspx?Menu=Menu&Module=More&Location=None&ProjectID=10151
