An internal Central Intelligence Agency investigation revealed that five employees, two lawyers and three information technology specialists improperly accessed (or caused access to) a database that was exclusively used by staffers of the Senate Intelligence Committee. CIA Director John Brennan apologized privately to lawmakers on Tuesday, saying that members of his agency “acted in a manner inconsistent with the common understanding” between the CIA and the Senate Intelligence Committee.
