An intimate look at a brand new Jersey Jack Wizard of Oz pinball machine. I dig all the new LCD play field pinballs but Ill always have a soft spot for that old time pinball. You really need a great team of digital artists and animators to do a full field LCD pinball or it comes off looking like a 1990s video game pinball on an LCD play field slapped into a pinball cabinet. Done right though, and it has been, the visual effects can blow your mind. But there is a whole universe of sights, sounds, and feels with that old time pinball. Even if they added knockers to a computer physics pinball machine (like Qbert had) it could never replace that real world silver ball. Stern Pinball is actually moving into a larger assembly plant right now so Im guessing sales are good. I have yet to play a Jersey Jack machine nor do I see one going in at the few local places I do haunt, like the theater. I cant even remember the last time I tilted past a pin at the mall arcade.
