An un-dated Press Association photograph from my collection showing an un-identified proper P & O Strath vessel on her maiden arrival in the Thames - possibly for her maiden voyage. The welcoming troup of Ship Towage tugs are dressed overall - and are headed by the AVENGER and followed by the DHULIA on the bow and the MOORCOCK on the port quarter. Almost certainly there would be fourth tug - probably the IONIA or the VANQUISHER, as the newest diesel tugs in the fleet. The tugs are all wearing the new combined livery of the Ship Towage companies - irreverently known locally as Stop Me and Buy One colours ! - and indicates that the photo dates from between 1966 to 1969.
