An unjust law is morally not a law and legally cannot violate the US Constitution or state constitution. Unconstitutional laws are null and void without any action being taken because no Legislature-made law can legally contradict the laws created by the constitutions. Juries can recognize that a law is already null and void and therefore, that the person breaking the law is innocent of committing a crime based on facts. Their verdict doesnt overturn or change the legislature-made law. However, it can save an innocent person from being harmed. And if enough juries refuse to convict innocent people based on unjust laws, the legislatures are likely to take notice and may choose to remove the illegal laws from the books. The judicial branch has no authority to make or change laws, and that includes juries. The separation of powers is meant to keep each branch from becoming tyrannical and taking control.
