An update from Councillor Margot Russell on Dalkeith Burns Monument page Margot Russell I am able to advise that Midlothian Council has submitted a bid to the Scottish Government Town Regeneration Fund. The bid is for Phase 2 of Dalkeith Town Centre Improvements which now includes the repositioning and restoration of the Burns Monument. The plan is to put the Monument back on the junction of High Street and South Street as near the old position as possible. Rod Lugg has sumitted a brilliant bid but we must remember that there will be a lot of competition for this money. So we will have to wait on the outcome. Also will contact Govan about the Aitken Memorial Fountain as their cherub is the twin of the Dalkeith one. I will keep you all informed as soon as I know anything, it will be some months I am afraid Margot
