Anambra 2013: APGA aspirants jittery over Soludo The joining of Professor Charles Soludo into the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has sent shivers down the spines of the seventeen gubernatorial aspirants of the party from Anambra North Senatorial District Since Soludo became member of APGA, it has been widely rumoured that he would fly the flag of the party in the November 16 governorship election in Anambra State, thereby deepening the fears that Governor Peter Obi may have abandoned his pursuit for Anambra North to produce the next governor. Soludo who hails from Isuofia community, Aguata local government area of Anambra South has told reporters that there is no zoning or rotation in the constitution of APGA, expressing optimism that at the end of the primaries he would become the candidate of the party. It would be recalled that the governor had been on the Vanguard of Anambra North producing the next governor and had also told all and sundry that before Late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu died the Late Ikemba had told him to ensure that Anambra North person becomes his successor. But on the day National Chairman of APGA Sir Victor Umeh finally settled his face off with Governor Obi, the Special Assistant to the governor Mr. Valentine Obienyem had issued a release noting that the governor’s sympathy for the North is borne out of justice and fairness but does not mean that a better candidate should be sacrificed on the alter of Anambra North agenda. Already most aspirants of APGA extraction from Anambra North are meeting in Abuja over the incident while some are kicking over Soludo’s membership alleging that the governor may have betrayed them. According to a member of Anambra North Elites Forum Professor Alex Asigbo: “What this means is that Obi has betrayed Anambra North people. This man has gained popularity in Anambra due to his campaign for Anambra North. For him to have turned round to abandon us is most unfortunate. We learnt that there was a consensus between Governor Peter Obi and Victor Umeh to pick Soludo as APGA candidate and Soludo is from the South of Anambra State."
