Ancient Romans and Greeks wove rosemary into their hair to enhance - TopicsExpress

Ancient Romans and Greeks wove rosemary into their hair to enhance their memory while studying. They knew what they were doing too- Modern research is proving to support these ideas. A university in Japan experimented with diffusing essential oils in the office. When they diffused lemon, there were 54% fewer errors. When essential oils were diffused while studying, then again while testing, test scores increased by as much as 50%. Why does this work? With each inhalation of an essential oil, the olfactory nerves in the nostril send a message to the brain. Then, transmitters in the brain are released- each with different effects on the body such as memory help, stress relief, and increased energy. To help with memory: Choose an essential oil and diffuse it during study. When you go to take the test, reintroduce the smell into the air with the oil on a cotton ball or even on the back of your hand. The smell will help recall the study material in the same way the smell of baked cookies suddenly reminds you of grandma’s house or after school with friends. A different oil should be used for each subject or test. Oils to try- Frankincense, Rosemary, Basil, Lemon, Lemongrass, Peppermint, Sage, Bergamot, Black Pepper, Cypress, Ylang Ylang. For a smooth bedtime: Diffuse in the room 1 hour before going to sleep, spray on a pillow, rub on spine or bottom of the feet with a mini massage or AromaTouch hand technique. Add a few drops to the tub. Oils to try- Serenity Blend, Lavender, Roman Chamomile, Ylang Ylang, Frankincense, Bergamot, Marjoram, Wild Orange, Vetiver. To boost immunity: Mist essential oils in a room to eliminate airborn pathogens. Dilute and clean doorknobs, telephones, desks, phones, etc. Rub on feet daily to support general wellness. Take ingestable oils in a capsule or a few drops in water. Diffuse in the air.
