And as they went, they entered a village of the Samaritans, to prepare for Him. But they did not receive Him, because His face was set for the journey to Jerusalem. And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?” But He turned and rebuked them, and said, “You do not know what manner of spirit you are of. For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them.” And they went to another village...Luke 9:52-56 The disciples qouted Elijah as they wanted to use their gifts to call fire down to consume those they regarded as the opposition... The teaching of submit to your spiritual father in order to receive a DOUBLE PORTION is in its nature contrary to the teaching of the new covenant. The reason is this: UNLESS IS NOT THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST DIRECTLY RESTING ON YOU...YOU WILL RECEIVE THE SPIRIT OF MAN WHICH IS DEVOID OF GRACE and MERCY. The same happened with Elisha immediately after the DOUBLE PORTION FROM ELIJAH...this is what we see thereafter... Then he went up from there to Bethel; and as he was going up the road, some youths came from the city and mocked him, and said to him, “Go up, you baldhead! Go up, you baldhead!” So he turned around and looked at them, and PRONOUNCED A CURSE on them in the name of the Lord. And two female bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths. Then he went from there to Mount Carmel, and from there he returned to Samaria...2 Kings 2:23-25 The disciples positioned themselves under the DOUBLE PORTION ANOINTING and so wanted to PRONOUNCE A CURSE...but Jesus Christ who is the giver of THE SPIRIT OF GRACE rebuked them. If we are looking for such a spirit of DOUBLE PORTION we will fail to operate in LOVE because it is only directly from Christ that we receive the SPIRIT OF GRACE which is the SPIRIT WITHOUT MEASURE (without portion)... because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us...Romans 5:5 Elisha like his predecessor Elijah pronounced curses because they were OPERATING UNDER THE GIFTS OF POWER yet WITHOUT THE POWER OF LOVE. However Elisha allowed the LORD to teach him about THE POWER OF LOVE...let us look at this wonderful Scripture: So when the Syrians came down to him, Elisha prayed to the Lord, and said, “Strike this people, I pray, with blindness.” And He struck them with blindness according to the word of Elisha. Now Elisha said to them, “This is not the way, nor is this the city. Follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom you seek.” But he led them to Samaria. So it was, when they had come to Samaria, that Elisha said, “Lord, open the eyes of these men, that they may see.” And the Lord opened their eyes, and they saw; and there they were, inside Samaria! Now when the king of Israel saw them, he said to Elisha, “My father, shall I kill them? Shall I kill them? ” But he answered, “You shall not kill them. Would you kill those whom you have taken captive with your sword and your bow? Set food and water before them, that they may eat and drink and go to their master.” Then he prepared a great feast for them; and after they ate and drank, he sent them away and they went to their master. So the bands of Syrian raiders came no more into the land of Israel...2 Kings 6:18-23 IN THIS WE SEE A CHANGED MERCIFUL ELISHA who definitely is not operating under DOUBLE PORTION. Selah... Hallelujah... WE HAVE THE SPIRIT OF GRACE and MERCY...Amen
