And here is the new prologue to my book. I had a different one but after reading a book about writing a book, I came up with this alternate prologue and I think it fits much better than the original prologue. I can use the former prologue in another scene. Blood Before Tribune Alternate Prologue Beads of sweat trickled down Gerhard’s temples. His heart pounded so hard, he wondered if the six men before him could hear it. He stood before them, ready to face the end. He was ready to see Rudi and Klass again. Any moment now the link to life will be shattered and he will exist no more. To say he was not afraid was a lie. Of course he was afraid. Who would not be? Death, no matter the way it happened, could be intimidating. But all he wanted out of this, was to be remembered for the sacrifice he made to help the Jews, his effort to help make Germany a better nation, and may he leave a legacy for people to embrace and preserve. Was he surprised this was the outcome of his involvement in the Movement? Not at all. He knew there was an eighty to ninety percent chance this would happen the moment he said yes. The only thing was, he thought the Blood Court would choose execution by beheading like they had chosen for everyone else; not this. He swallowed when his intense dark eyes focused on the rifles. Six guns. Six or more bullets that would turn his lean body to Swiss cheese in less than a minute. He saw the men position themselves and for a moment, he was drawn to the beginning. Before this moment Before he said yes.....
