And here we are in April again...the month where OTHER people are made aware of autism. WE are aware of it every day- usually around 6:30am. :) Cody was diagnosed with AUTISM when he was 4½, he is now 21 and we have been thru trials by fire ever since. Weve made mistakes, weve had successes. Luckily way more successes than mistakes. Weve had family and friends at our sides the entire time- helping us cope, holding our hands and drying our tears. Weve had unlimited help from above. But most of all, I can wholeheartedly say, we are SO very fortunate to have him in our lives. He has opened our eyes to the world we overlook. He notices ALL the little things we miss in everyday life. He loves the moon, he likes the grass, he listens to the wind. He is a joy in every sense of the word. I love him so very much, I never knew you could love someone so much. He IS my heart and soul. So as we head into the April, the dedicated month for autism awareness, remember what a joy a person with autism can be. Take time to get to know someone who has autism, or Aspergers or PDD-NOS. They are worth knowing. Were lighting it up blue!
