And heres the recap for mens soccer: The Phoenix College Bears Mens Soccer team have set the stage to clinch their first outright ACCAC Regular Season title in the programs history after dispatching the Paradise Valley Pumas, 6-0, at Hogan Field at Hoy Stadium on the Phoenix College campus Thursday night. The shutout-combined with Yavapais 1-0 loss to Arizona Western in Yuma Thursday-puts the Bears 1/2 game ahead of the Roughriders with one game remaining for each team on the regular season schedule. The Bears found the defense of the Pumas (3-16 overall, 3-16 ACCAC) in the first half, managing only 6 shots on goal, but ending the scoreless tie in the games 27th minute, thanks to Anthony Tokpahs 8th goal of the season. After halftime, the Bears wasted little time in putting the game out of reach by scoring a pair of goals 25 seconds apart in the first 6 minutes of the half. PCs Sakae Iohara-coming back from injury to play his first game in over a month-scored the Bears 2nd goal on a penalty kick, then watched teammate Josue Henriquez put his team-leading 10th goal of the season in the net less than a half-minute later to give PC a 3-0 lead. While the Pumas were unable to get a shot on goal in the 2nd half, the Bears offense got on track with 16 2nd-half shots, including goals by Tokpah, Luis Tapia and Alexis Flores in the games final 15 minutes to ice the win. The Bears outshot PV, 22-3, for the game. A win or tie for the Bears (15-1-3 overall, 15-1-3 ACCAC) against Glendale in their regular season finale Saturday night at home will clinch the first outright ACCAC Regular Season title for the Bears, which would mark a first for any team in Maricopa County in ACCAC Mens Soccer history. Kickoff is scheduled for 7PM at Hogan Field.
