And in that day the Lord GOD of hosts Called for weeping and for mourning, For baldness and for girding with sackcloth. 13 But instead, joy and gladness, Slaying oxen and killing sheep, Eating meat and drinking wine: “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!” (Isaiah 22:12-13) This is a call to discern the times. There is a time for everything. Ecclesiastes 3:4 says, A time to weep, And a time to laugh; A time to mourn, And a time to dance; In this passage, God was displeased with the people of Jerusalem because while He had called for a time of weeping, mourning and sackcloth, which represented fasting, repentance and waiting upon The Lord, they had rather taken to eating and drinking. They had adopted an attitude and philosophy that is very symptomatic of the way some people think today... Let us eat and drink for tomorrow we die. That is the rich fool mentality. God expects much more from us. He want us to wait upon Him for wisdom, to plan for our future and to live a life of purpose. May that be your story. Youre blessed indeed!
