And so after attending the anti-Islamophobia rally in Melbourne I - TopicsExpress

And so after attending the anti-Islamophobia rally in Melbourne I am going to make a contribution to try and turn the tide of this wide spread ignorance and hatred. So every time Im online Ill post something related to Islamic art, history, culture... and armor, definitely armor shots. Heres my first: The Alahambra, located in Andalusia, Granada, Spain. It was originally once a small fortress around 800 AD, until the Moorish Emir Mohammed ben Al-Ahmar rebuilt and renovated its ruins in the mid-11th century, whom built its current palace and walls. It became a royal palace in 1333 when it was further renovated by Yusuf I, Sultan of Granada. After the conquest of the Moorish lands in Spain (1492), the palace was used by various Christian rulers, and extended by by the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V, who obviously named the extended palace after himself. Unfortunately the palace became unoccupied, it fell into disrepair and became the home to squatters and wanders. After an expedition in 19th century, the Alahambra was re-discovered... or really just re-remembered, and was over the century restored to to the point of perfection. Look into Mudejar/Mudejjan architecture, built by the Moors during the converso period (after 1492). Lots of buildings in Granada display modified features and a blend in-between Gothic and Islamic styles. Here are some images to drool over: s895.photobucket/user/letsshall/media/animals/The-Alhambra--Granada.jpg.html thespainscoop/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/A-ceramic-detail-in-the-Alhambra.jpg thewelltravelledpostcard.files.wordpress/2013/03/alhambra_-_patio_de_los_leones_in_the_morning_sun_-_july_2011.jpg spain-holiday/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/Court-of-the-Lion-Alhambra.jpg static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/Guardian/Pix/pictures/2009/4/6/1239054852610/Tha-Alhambra-palace-in-Gr-002.jpg Does the art you see say raving terrorists or speak of a highly sophisticated culture and society? I choose the latter, this highly sophisticated culture and society that is Islam happens to be a part of our country... lets not continually isolate, assault and spew verbal hate at them (Im talking to you Abbott and your ilk). Im very proud of the fact that the Muslims of this country are Australians, and shamed by the actions of the government (not my government, I didnt vote the gits in).
