And so...the butterfly gets her wings. News travels fast and it seems most now know about my decision to leave Inspire School of Dance to take on the amazing feat of running my own program. I have partnered with the legendary Missy Ridgeway of Perseverance Dance Company. Those in the dance world know that she directs one of the most successful, entertaining an awe inspiring pre-professional dance companies in the country. She has yet to open her doors to the public by offering training classes to all OR competing lines for ages 3-19 year olds. Enter: Perseverance Dance Studio! After my 14+ years experience of teaching and choreographing for others across the US, I now have the opportunity to be the head of this NEW STUDIO! Its really just setting in now as I hear daily from countless families. What an extremely hard decision to leave all these dancers I love so dearly. It is, however, because I have this passion for the art of dance and what it does to enrich the lives of young girls (and boys!) that I must provide an environment that is conducive to these philosophies of mine. It was my experience growing up at Larkin Dance Studio in Minnesota that this journey began for me. I was never their brightest star but was always made to feel my importance and my worth. It wasnt until I became a professional dancer as an 18 year old that I finally found my voice. Gratefully, it was Michele Larkin herself who connected Missy and I. There is no bigger compliment than to have been so highly recommended for a position of this stature by the woman who taught me everything I know. Ive always attributed my successes to what Michele and the Larkins instilled in me. This takes it to a level I couldnt have dreamed of. I am so blessed. I also have the utmost respect for Anne and the beautiful dancers she is training. We are parting ways, but on a good foot. I am a different teacher than I was 5 years ago when I first began there. Anne believed in my work from the first class I taught to her Mini Company (now teenagers!!), the students who were so extremely talented pushed me to new heights, the other teachers I had the pleasure of working with are some of the best humans Ive ever met in my lifetime. So genuine, so much heart. I dont even have the words to thank everyone there for how youve enriched my life! It is because of this that Im not only hoping, but encouraging everyone stay put. I am honored by your texts, emails and calls that are showering me with praise for what Ive done as an educator and mentor in your daughters and sons lives. This is very much my life purpose. Change and growth must happen so as not to remain stagnant or plateau. Set no limitations but rather push higher or you will never realize what your capable of. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
