And so the injuries begin... 5 players out a month into the season (not including Raylor) /Loraine NEWCASTLE United are sweating on the fitness of Yohan Cabaye. The midfielder limped out of Saturday’s 3-2 defeat to Hull City with a groin problem. And Cabaye is doubtful for Wednesday night’s Capital One Cup tie against Championship outfit Leeds United at St James’s Park. The 27-year-old had groin surgery last season, and Cabaye’s latest injury – which forced him off in the second half – was today being assessed by United’s medical staff. However, Newcastle manager Alan Pardew is hopeful there is no significant damage. Cabaye had made his first home start of the season against Hull, who twice came from behind at St James’s Park to claim all three points. Pardew revealed on the eve of the game the France international had been “disciplined” for his refusal to play in the club’s first two league games. Cabaye had made himself unavailable for selection in the wake of a bid from Arsenal, which was rejected by United. The ex-Lille player apologised to supporters for his actions earlier this month, and pledged to rediscover the form of his first season at St James’s Park. Cabaye is just one of a number of injury concerns, with Shola Ameobi and Steven Taylor also in the treatment room. Striker Ameobi and defender Taylor face up to three weeks on the sideline with their respective injuries. Both would have been expected to feature in the third-round tie against Leeds, beaten 2-1 at Elland Road by Burnley on Saturday. However, there is some good news for the Magpies with winger Jonas Gutierrez and defender Massadio Haidara both close to their comebacks from injury.
