And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. (Mat 24:10) Offence is such a dangerous spirit from the kingdom of darkness. It will make some turn away from their vows of marriage and walk away, it will tear families and friendships apart, it will cause some to turn away from God and turn to the things of the world. Being offended can only bring forth destruction through the bondage of unforgiveness and bitterness that will not only cause spiritual and emotional sickness but can and often does affect the physical body. But pastor, you dont understand what they did to me and You dont understand how it has hurt me. Oh, trust me, I understand all too well the depths of hurt and heart break when you are wounded by another. Lets look at it like this; suppose you have a disease, a broken bone or a physical wound. Because of those things, you suffer some of the following: severe pain, it affects your attitude and you dont feel like being around others, you tend to want to give up on your hopes and dreams and you think no one understands your level of pain. These are symptoms of the sickness, brokenness or wounds, they are not the problem but a result of the problem. Let me ask you, would you live with a sickness or injury without trying to do something about it? Wouldnt you go to a doctor to get treated so that you can be healthy again? I think we all would answer yes to that question. Bottom line, you make a choice to do what it takes to get healed. Its the same with emotional wounds, you must make a choice to get healed. Healing can only take place in forgiveness, through Gods Word, His presence and your worship. Being offended affects you and those who you are in relationship with, it affects your health and your walk with God. Today my friend, if you have been wounded and you are walking in offence because of that wound; go to The Doctor, the great Physician, sit down and pour out your heart to Him and ask Him to change your heart of stone into a heart of flesh. Begin today to walk in forgiveness; yeah its probably going to be painful and pretty uncomfortable and it probably wont happen over night, but it will be a process much like the healing of the sickness, brokenness and wounds of the physical body that we talked about earlier. My prayer is that you find healing for your spirit, soul and body that you may walk in the fullness of Gods destiny and purpose for your life.
