Andover Chamber Music will be transitioning to a new name this year. We have long been suffering from a bit of an identity crisis. We’re sometimes a presenting organization, as when we invite the Chiara Quartet to play on the series, and we’re sometimes Mistral, the name we use when performing with a familiar core of players in Andover and as guests on other presenting organizations. It’s tricky to be both. We have also been told by countless people that the name Andover Chamber Music does not suggest the world-class caliber of the artists on the stage, and that the reason it took them so long to come to a concert was that they assumed the “village band” was playing. “Sounds too provincial,” we were told. So we think it is time to clear up the confusion: Mistral will remain the name of our ensemble as it has been for years, but now under the umbrella of "Mistral Music." Over the coming year the website address will reflect this and our new domain name (which we have saved for a decade!) will be MistralMusic. (For the time being, and until the new website is ready, continue to find us at AndoverChamberMusic.org.) I know some of our Andover friends were already feeling uneasy about the series after we announced our move, and the name change may have you canceling your subscriptions! But I want to assure you that the concerts that you have come to know and love will not change in the least. We will keep bringing you the same wide-ranging, uplifting, moving works of chamber music performed by the best of the best artists who enjoy intimate communication with their audiences. Thanks for your patience and understanding as we go through this change that will help our organization.
