Andrew Bird uses loop peddles and does such an elegant job. I think his juxtaposition of sounds is very unique. Im intrigued to experiment with this idea of looping sounds that pushes the boundaries of using just only traditional instruments to do so. Ive seen looping done live. I like the idea of it and the sounds and compositions created with it. But, what if we used not just traditionalinstruments, but items we already own or see in nature and have to make sound? Then to take those things using loop peddles or even sound recording equipment and create compositions out of them? Like some of us did as kids. Where we grabbed wooden spoons and pots, we tinged a fork against glass, tapped our fingers on wood, we crumpled paper, listen to the whistling sound of a teapot, the sounds we make walking down the street, the sound of skin on skin, waltzing leaves, or the sound of our breathing rhythm changing when we kiss another human being with passion. Maybe, just maybe, I sound crazy. But, maybe I make sense to some. What if music was created in that way?Just some thoughts. I know Frank Zappa and Primus are two that come to mind that really are experimental. But, I know there are so many that have done this. It isnt a knew idea. But, to take that idea, perform it live, to do it in a pure jam session sort of way, and just create compositions on the spot? This video really inspired me. You should also watch Ted Talks with Evelyn Glennie: How to truly listen. I watched that video just before this one. Sequential of doing so, It really got me thinking back to the basics of how I use to and do think about and experience music. I just havent thought about it in this manor in a long time. It was like a duh moment when it did. Lino Dylan Gonzales, I am sure you have seen this video with Andrew Bird and Evelyn Glennie, but if by chance you havent you should. Both videos really reminded me of you and are something I know you would enjoy watching. :)
