Andrzej Dutkiewicz Biography One of the most talented Polish pianists and composers, Andrzej Dutkiewicz is a graduate of the Frederic Chopin Academy of Music, Warsaw, Poland in both Piano and Composition. As a Fulbright Scholar he has received a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in 1976 at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. He has toured extensively throughout Europe, South America, Russia, and the United States. Andrzej Dutkiewicz is represented on both commercial and documentary recordings for Polish Radio and TV, the "Muza" Polish Recording Company, Phillips, and Sonoton Pro Nova. In 1997-99 he has completed the recordings of his own compositions: "Dutkiewicz plays Dutkiewicz with Lanier Trio" - Gasparo Records, USA, 1997; "Polska Muzyka Współczesna" - Olympia 1998; "Panorama Nowej Muzyki Polskiej" - Acté Préalable, Warsaw, 1999. Widely known for his appearances at symposia and master classes where there is an emphasis on the interpretation of 20th century music, Andrzej Dutkiewicz has presented lectures and recitals at music festivals such as the Cleveland Orchestra Blossom Music Festival and the American Franz Joseph Liszt Society Festival, the Schöenberg Institute at University of Southern California, Los Angeles, University of Kansas, University of Miami, University of Texas (Houston), University of Louisiana, University of Georgia, University of Michigan (Ann Arbor), Bob Jones University (South Carolina), University of Washington, Northwestern University (Chicago). Since 1974 he has conducted courses in the interpretation of contemporary music at the National Music Camp at Interlochen, Michigan. As a composer, Andrzej Dutkiewicz has received international attention. His compositions have been published by Sonoton Pro Nova in Germany, and by Polish Music Publishers (PWM) in Poland. A Second Prize winner at the International Competition for Performers of Contemporary Music in Rotterdam in 1970, his compositions have been performed at contemporary music festivals worldwide, on Polish Radio and TV, Europe, and also at Carnegie Hall in New York. In 1990, he has been recognized by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland "For prominent merit for the Polish culture abroad" and in 2002 he has been given the Golden Cross of Merit. Dr. Andrzej Dutkiewicz is currently Professor of Piano at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, Poland, where he serves as a Head of Contemporary Music Division. In 1999-2005 he was a Dean of Piano, Organ and Harpsichord Department.
