Angola: Diplomat Pays Homage to Angolans That Died for Namibias Cause The Namibian ambassador to Angola, Claudia Grace Uushona, last Friday in Lubango City, southern Huila Province, praised the struggle of the Angolan people until the defeat of the then apartheid South Africa military forces that invaded Angola, leading to Namibias independence. The praise was made at a political gathering, held to celebrate the 24 years of Namibias independence, marked last Friday, having stressed that the battle of Cuito Cuanavale was crucial for Angolans to weaken the invading enemies. Claudia Grace Uushona went on to say that the ceremony was not just being held to celebrate the countrys freedom, which was achieved with a lot of difficulties, but also to pay homage to Angolans, who sacrificed themselves to defend the neighbouring countrys independence. To Namibians, she emphasised, it is a pride to have Angolans as brothers that share historical ties, which unite both peoples, adding that this must always be remembered. The ceremony was attended by members of Huila Province government, Namibian officials, chieftains, religious personalities and representatives of political parties, among other guests. On the occasion ambassador Cláudia Grace Uushona inaugurated a photographic exhibition that show the fight against apartheid and colonialism. (Angop)
