Angolan Vice President appeals for investment in Angola at UN gathering Manuel Vicente was delivering a speech at an economic forum organized by the Angolan mission to the United Nations, in partnership with the chambers of commerce of Angola and the United States. “I am confident that the event will not just contribute to a greater awareness about the current political and economic situation of Angola, but it also can strengthen the co-operation and relationship between the US and Angola”, he emphasize The Vice President assured that Angola has been experimenting a process of political and economic transformation which is consolidating the democratic institutions. Manuel Vicente explained that the 2012 elections served to renew the legitimacy of the institutions of the governance of the state, as well as strengthen cohesion and national reconciliation. “Angola is committed to speeding up its economic growth and diversification of the economy in a sustainable way”, he added. He went on saying that the Angolan government is trying to implement measures that guarantee sustainable development, economic growth, population growth, employment and social justice, through equal opportunities for all citizens and fair distribution of the national revenue. He also spoke about the implementation of an environmental policy which can guarantee well-being for the present and future generations. With a view to achieving those goals, he said, the Angolan government has been working to implement a social and economic development program for the 2013/2017 period. He explained that that is a strategic program which aims at increasing basic social services for the population, as well as diversifying the economy. Manuel Vicente also mentioned the governmental policies intended to promote economic growth and investment, facilitating productive investment, particularly through stimulating the creation of small and medium enterprises. O vice-presidente garantiu que Angola tem vindo a experimentar um processo de transformação política e econômica que está se consolidando as instituições democráticas. Manuel Vicente explicou que as eleições de 2012 serviu para renovar a legitimidade das instituições da governança do Estado, bem como o reforço da coesão e da reconciliação nacional. "Angola está empenhada em acelerar seu crescimento econômico e da diversificação da economia de forma sustentável", acrescentou. Ele passou a dizer que o governo angolano está a tentar implementar medidas que garantam o desenvolvimento sustentável, o crescimento econômico, o crescimento da população, emprego e justiça social, por meio de igualdade de oportunidades para todos os cidadãos e de distribuição justa da renda nacional. Ele também falou sobre a implementação de uma política ambiental, que pode garantir o bem-estar para as gerações presentes e futuras. Com vista a atingir esses objetivos, segundo ele, o governo angolano tem vindo a trabalhar para implementar um programa de desenvolvimento social e econômico para o período 2013/2017. Ele explicou que esse é um programa estratégico que visa aumentar os serviços sociais básicos para a população, bem como a diversificação da economia. Manuel Vicente também mencionou as políticas governamentais destinadas a promover o crescimento económico eo investimento, facilitando o investimento produtivo, particularmente através do estímulo à criação de pequenas e médias empresas.
