Animal Transport Coordinator Requisition Number 2013-1646 Department Humane Law Enforcement Location Queens, NY Job Description The Animal Transport Coordinator is responsible for the safe and humane transport of animals for the Cruelty Intervention Advocacy program, Humane Law Enforcement department, and NYPD partnership. The Coordinator will transport animals to and from veterinary clinics, foster homes, placement partners and other locations, within NYC and throughout the Northeast and Midatlantic region. The Coordinator will be responsible for the inspection of vehicles and maintenance of equipment and supplies. This position will assist with animal handling and field operations as needed. Job Responsibilities: • Oversee and conduct safe and humane transport of animals and supplies for the CIA, HLE and Adoption Center departments • Drive defensively with care and caution; observe speed limits and all good driving rules • Assist with the loading and unloading of animals and ensure accurate record keeping • Transport animals within NYC as well as to placement partners located outside the region • Occasional overnight travel will be required • Track data and prepare reports on animal transport activity • Perform pre and post transport inspections and entire vehicle sanitation on a regular basis • Responsible for prompt communication of vehicle maintenance needs to an HLE or CIA manager • Oversee storage, inventory, re-stock of supplies and equipment housed at the Humane Law Enforcement office and the Adoption Center • Create inventory system and maintain administrative documents of vehicles, equipment and supplies • Provide excellent customer service to partners at pick up and drop off locations • Assist with field operations as needed including logistical support, intake and transport from removal sites to partner clinics or the Adoption Center • Perform additional duties as assigned • Flexible to attend staff meetings and training classes Education: • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent Experience: • 2+ years of driving experience • 2+ years of professional experience • At least one year of customer service experience. Knowledge Requirements: • Knowledge of interstate driving law Skills Requirements: • Clean driving record and copy of DMV vehicle abstract • CDL (commercial drivers license) preferred, or willing to obtain. • Ability to operate large vehicles. • Strong customer service skills. • Strong analytical and problem solving skills. • Strong animal care and handling skills. • Ability to lift weights of 20-50 lbs. • Excellent communication skills. • Basic computer knowledge required.
